With over 390,000 passengers arriving between August 10 and 16, Sharjah Airport saw one of its busiest weeks of the summer travel season as vacationers returned to the UAE in anticipation of the start of the new school year.
Over 2,350 flights were handled by the airport throughout the week, with Cairo, Doha, Dhaka, and Amman among its busiest destinations due to the continued high demand on both regional and international routes.
During the week of August 10–16, Sharjah Airport handled over 390,000 passengers, a notable rise in passenger traffic during the busiest summer travel season.
During the week, the airport handled about 175,000 arrivals and almost 151,000 departures. Over 66,000 transit passengers were also registered at the airport during that time.
The rise coincided with travelers returning from summer vacations before the UAE’s new school year began. During the week, 1,175 flights arrived at Sharjah Airport and 1,175 departed. The airport’s function as a regional center for passenger travel and aviation cargo movement is reflected in the airlines’ service to over 100 foreign destinations.
According to the airport, the numbers highlight its role in facilitating traveler and cargo connections across a worldwide network of locations. On August 15, the airport handled 48,859 arriving and leaving passengers, the largest daily passenger traffic.
